For 51 Years, Mr. "Party Line", Charlie Porter has been  taking your phone calls each morning from 10:00am to 11:00am every Monday thru Friday! 

We are all saddened by Charlie's death and all of us at Radiopark and the Kirksville community will miss you Charlie.

Charlie Porter was with KIRX since it began in 1947. He witnessed the many changes to the building and it's operation. Charlie, 86, had recently been taken ill and was weak, but he was set on making it to the stations 60th anniversary. 

On the day six decades from the station's first broadcast, Charlie talked on-air via telephone during Partyline-a program that began in 1956 that Charlie was best known for. Over the phone, he happily remembered 1947 and recounted how he unexpectedly became a radio announcer. Charlie signed off and left not only the airwaves after that final broadcast. Charlie passed away within the hour following. He had made it to the 60th anniversary of the station he helped begin and adored. When asked about his experience, Charlie said that he had loved every minute of it. And so did we Charlie. May you rest in peace.
